Chapter II
They reached for the same volume on a quiet Tuesday in November. Neither remembers who let go first, only that an entire afternoon disappeared between the stacks and a single shared cup of tea grew cold on the reading-room desk. The chapter, as they like to tell it, has continued ever since.
